_{When I tell people that Eleven is my favorite Doctor, people automatically assume that I like him because he’s silly and quirky, while in reality, those traits have very little to do with why I like him.}

_{Eleven’s comical moments are great, but that’s not what makes him stand out to me.}

_{What gets to me about Matt Smith’s portrayal of the Doctor is the way he is able to convey other emotions. This is a character who is wounded and scarred by a thousand years worth of heartbreak, plagued with everlasting guilt, haunted by loneliness and the people he has lost. A man filled with enough hatred and loathing to make even the most fearsome of enemies think twice about crossing him. Underneath Eleven’s carefree exterior, there is a broken, vulnerable, and often terrifying version of the Doctor just waiting to emerge. With just a single look, Matt Smith is able to effectively capture all of the complex emotions that are running through his character’s mind. He can go from looking like a cosmic nine year old to an ageless god in a fraction of a second. Matt Smith’s acting reminds us of just how little we actually know about the Doctor. He spends most of his time screen acting childish and just plan ridiculous, so that when the hidden side of his character does come out, it’s enough to give you chills.}
